Budapest has many districts and neighbourhoods, having outstanding facilities, if you want to stay in the Hungarian capital for one or more nights as a through passenger or a tourist.
It is important to know that a good neighbourhood could also have some unpleasant surprises, so it is worth considering a few other aspects when looking for the best accommodation while staying in Budapest.
Here are some significant aspects for choosing your best accommodation in Budapest!
1. What facilities and services does the accommodation offer?
In case of some hotels, the reception has a 24-hour opening or it has room service. Does the hotel have its own catering service or a restaurant? On the basis of room equipment; would you have a minibar and your room will be air-conditioned while staying there. What is the quality of the mattresses? Many hotels, despite having gained a 5-star rating, in many cases do not offer a very spine-friendly sleeping option, which is not the last aspect even if you really want to relax. In case of apartments as proper accommodation, does possibly the owner have knowledge or recommendations regarding local programs?
2. Cleaning, room cleanliness!
It is so worth reading as many previous guest reviews as you can. Here, some examples you need to read about: how clean the hotel room or apartment was when you arrived there. As the hotel is not rated on a day-to-day basis, unfortunately, some staff may occasionally not perform certain tasks thoroughly. Many guests, travelling around the world, can often be encountered several failures like no soap filling or toiletries replacing in the bathroom, or bedsheets have inadequate cleanliness. It is often the fault of laundry workers that they would supply so bedding that is not very attractive to the eye, possibly with an earlier stain left on it, or possibly it is leaky.
3. View and Panorama!
Localization is not necessarily a guarantee of the most amazing panorama. Some accommodations may be close to the Danube or one of some significant local attractions (for instance, Buda Castle, Matthias Church or the monumental Hungarian Parliament), but we do not have the chance to really see anything from the whole if we look out of the hotel window, or balcony, since our room is not looking in that direction. These services are an extra one in most accommodation, especially hotels, but in the case of the Bird Accommodation & Event Boat, you can rest in any room, you will definitely be guaranteed by a pleasant and wonderful view in the mornings, hearing the birds’ songs directly on the banks of the Danube.
4. Value for money!
For what do we pay exactly? Does the price to be paid include room cleaning, and if so, how often does it supply? Can the room be booked with full board, half board or breakfast service only? What is included in the room price; does it have a meal option or not? If you have a meal, what options can they offer us exactly? Does it have a multi-course breakfast or maybe just cold plate options? Is there a discount in case of paying for more persons and longer-day bookings? There are plenty of questions and aspects you need to consider about when looking for the best accommodation and not just while staying in the Hungarian capital.
5. Cancellation conditions!
In case of many hotels, unfortunately, the reservation cannot be canceled free of charge 1 week immediately before the arrival, although we know that unexpected things cannot be timed well, so it is worth booking an accommodation that provides on-site payment, if even it is more expensive, or has an insurance service, giving a full refund even if the cancellation is up to 24 hours before the arrival. Possibly, the cancellation conditions may be flexible without having time limits for certain reasons, e.g. happening of an unexpected family tragedy, flight cancellations, or force majeure situations such as the pandemic now caused by the current coronavirus, although it is not very common, but it has been a similar case in several countries recently and these kinds of sorrowful conditions cannot allow to travel to anywhere.
What are the most popular districts in Budapest for accommodation?
Budapest can be divided into two parts, not only from the point of view of Buda and Pest, which are divided by the Danube, but also from the point of view of the purpose of our trip. If we come to the capital for a bachelor party or a girl’s night, it is worth placing the more prominent and central districts of the Pest side as the 5th and 6th ones if getting to know the nightlife of the city, as everything is very easily accessible. It is also important to mention the neighbouring districts, such as the 7th and 13th ones from which the centre is also reachable with 1-2 metro or bus stops. If relaxation and excursion are the main aspects, the Buda side can be the most perfect as it is surrounded by beautiful greenery mountains and places, providing many historical sights, castle parts and famous thermal baths.
Average accommodation prices in Budapest from apartments to 5-star hotels!
Apartments are from 8-10,000 HUF / night / person available in priority areas within Budapest, either can be booked directly on their official websites or global collection sites, as well as Booking or Airbnb, or Homeaway, or some domestic service providers like Szallas and Trivago could also help.
In the case of hotels, the scale is a bit wider, since you can already find a 5-star hotel room with the price of approximately 30,000 HUF / night / person, but in the same category we can book accommodation for up to 80-100,000 HUF / night, depending on the season and reservation numbers.
